Motorists in Bath are being urged to protect their car's identity and help prevent vehicles being used for criminal activity by taking advantage of a completely free scheme being offered by Allen Ford.
As part of Operation Relentless, Allen Ford and Allen Kia on Lower Bristol Road, Bath, are working with Police on Wednesday 7th March to alert motorists to the increase in number plate thefts and are offering free fitting of anti-tamper number plate screws to help stop criminals in their tracks.
Crime Prevention Design Advisor, Beth Shire from Avon and Somerset Police said: "Criminals often steal number plates from the cars of law abiding citizens in an attempt to conceal their identities and commit crime undetected. This could range from simple theft of petrol from petrol stations and road tax evasion through to far more serious crimes such as robberies, burglaries and drug dealing."
"This is a great free collaboration from Allen Ford, Allen Kia and Avon and Somerset Constabulary. We would recommend that members of the public take advantage of the offer on Wednesday. Using tamper proof screws is a great way to protect your car's number plate from thieves."
Speaking of the campaign, Allen Thomas, General Sales Manager at Allen Ford, Bath, said: "Swapping standard screws for the anti-tamper variety is a very quick, yet effective way to deter number plate thieves and we are very pleased to be able to provide this free service to local motorists."
