Twerton and Whiteway Parks

In Twerton and Whiteway we are blessed with a number of green open spaces which are vital for our community. These spaces are open for the public to enjoy, here is some information about each park: 

Bath and North East Somerset Council maintained parks

Pennyquick Park

This is situated on Newton Road, it is a large green space which benefits from an enclosed playground area which was replaced in 2022-2023, a single hoop Basketball area, BMX bike humps and 2 football goal posts.  It also has 4 pieces of outdoor gym equipment, 2 pieces of fully accessible play equipment and 2 picnic benches which were all installed following a successful CIL bid from Councillors Sarah Moore and Tim Ball during 2024-2025.

This park is used for a number of events throughout the year, including hosting a fairground and the Twerton Flower Show.

Innox Park

This is situated between Freeview Road and The Brow and also borders Bath City Farm. This is a large green hillside space which has an enclosed toddler and child playground area which was replaced in 2021-2022, a single hoop Basketball area, seating and a wildflower area.

This park has some lovely views across bath from the seating at the top of the park.

Curo maintained parks

Whiteway Green

This is a large green open space, which is situated between Rosewarn Close and Haycombe Drive. It has a skate ramp and goal posts with nets, it also has a Multi Use Games area with Basketball hoops and football goals which was installed following a successful combined CIL bid by Councillors Sarah Moore, Councillor Tim Ball and Curo. It also has a toddler and child playground area, which had new play equipment and a new surface installed in 2024, again following a successful CIL bid by Councillors Sarah Moore, Councillor Tim Ball and Curo. We are working closely with Curo to get this play area fenced in to make it a safer space for children to play.

Whiteway Community Association have also worked extremely hard making improvements in this park, including getting the nets for the football goals, seating and creating the memorial garden.

Woody Park

This is a small enclosed playground area in Redland Park which has swings, a climbing frame and a slide.

As both these parks are the responsibility of Curo Housing Association, any up keep and maintenance is their responsibility, however, Councillors Sarah Moore and Tim Ball do work closely with Curo to get improvements implemented in these parks.

Pennyquick Park - update

Following feedback from residents, Councillors Tim Ball and Sarah Moore have met with the Parks team and Cabinet Member responsible to discuss all options.

They have asked the parks team to draw up plans for full refurbishment of the park to include, replacing play equipment, installation of disabled play equipment, outdoor gym equipment, a path around the circumference of the park, replacement pump track, picnic benches, more seating and a wildflower meadow area.

Councillor Sarah Moore has submitted an application for CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) funding to put in some outdoor gym equipment and refurbishment of the pump track and this will be decided at a meeting in July.

All other aspects are being costed and whilst there is not currently a budget to do all the work, once the costs are known, they are looking at a phased approach to the work and are looking at all possible funding streams to enable it to happen.

Tim and Sarah are committed to improving this amazing park and will keep everyone updated of progress. 

Pennyquick Park - Issues

I was alerted to a broken fence at the play area in Pennyquick Park via Facebook today.  I have reported this to the council to be properly repaired, however, to ensure children can continue to safely play in this area I have visited the park and made a temporary repair.

I have also contacted BT again to ask that they either fully repair the damaged telephone box at the entrance to the park or remove it, as it is of little use to anyone in the condition it is currently in.

Pennyquick Park - Bin update

We are really pleased to confirm that a works order has finally been put in to install a bin by the pedestrian gateway entrance of Pennyquick Park (near to Shaw's Way end).

The bin was promised to us and local residents and park users almost a year ago and we have been chasing for this to be put in ever since.

We are hopeful that this should be put in place in the next few weeks.

Pennyquick Park is dumping here correct

We are investigating why the council have started dumping leaves
🍁 in Pennyquick Park.

The practice seems to have started last year at a low level but has increased this year with other garden related waste being deposited there as well.

The park already has a low level of Ticks with some local dogs already being infected.

The damage also being done to the park is very clear.
