New Headteachers have been appointed at both our Local Schools and both have been appointed from current teaching staff.
At Twerton Infants George Samios has been appointed head after spending a number of years as deputy head at the school.
At St Michaels Junior School Ben Summers has been appointed head after spending a number of years as Schhol deputy head.
We are sure that both the New heads will take their schools onto even greater success and we wish them well in their endeavours.

St Michaels Junior School
We have asked that the bollard that has been knocked down outside the School entrance is replaced as soon as possible.
We are pleased that despite repeated requests that the bollard that was knocked down has been removed.
We would hope that a new bollard would be put in place shortly.

Newton Road
We have asked for the School Crossing Patrol sign at St Michael's Junior School to be cleaned as soon as possible.
As can be seen in the picture the sign is covered in green moss and is hard to see by cars approaching the School from Twerton High Street.
We hope that this will be done quite quickly in order to ensure the safety of local Children.

Newton Road ( St Michaels Junior School )
We have asked for the bollard that has been knocked over outside of the Junior School to be
reinstated as soon as possible.
This is not the first time that this bollard has been knocked over and we will be chasing to try to find out who has knocked it over.
It is clear that as this is a concrete bollard that there must be some damage to the vehicle that hit it over, If you know who did this then please let us know.

Newton Road (Traffic Calming)
We had a very good meeting at St Michael's Junior School on Tuesday regarding the proposals for traffic calming outside the School.
The proposals are being finally put together and will be out for consultation in the next few weeks .
The Scheme is a £35,000 scheme that will include build outs new sight lines new road markings as well as restricted parking during School hours.
We have agreed with the head teacher of the school that he will publish the finalised plans on the school website as well as being carried out on this blog.
The matter of road safety as far as children in the area is concerned has always been a concern and this should help ease the situation.
The Scheme is scheduled to be implemented by November this year.

Newton Road
We had a good meeting this morning with Highway officers and the headmaster of the Junior School concerning proposals for traffic calming on the road outside the school.
Plans will now be drawn up on a scheme to slow down traffic and make a safer crossing for children going into school in the morning and coming out at night.
The scheme when drawn up will then be consulted on with local residents before being installed later this year.

The money to pay for this scheme was in the Liberal Democrat capital budget which passed through council earlier this year.

Newton Road (traffic calming)
We are pleased to announce that in the budget this year we have managed to get the traffic calming of Newton Road by St Michaels junior school included.
The school has had a number of children knocked over in the last few years very close to the School and it is now time to get this matter resolved.
The planning and design of the traffic calming will take place over the next few months prior to installation later in this financial year.
We will publish links to the developing plans as soon as they arrive and ensure that adequate consultation takes place with local residents and the school.

Allocation of community grants
We are both finalising the allocation of grants made available from the ward councillor initiative fund.
It has been difficult prioritising the many calls for small amounts of money that can make a difference to the community and its residents. We will be announcing during the next week the extra amounts of work that we are able to deliver and will publish them on this blog first.
I have been pleased in the past week to make further amounts of money available to St Michael's Junior school to help purchase equipment to help with special needs pupils.

Rememberance Day wreath laying
This year in Twerton we will be laying a wreath at the War memorial on the footpath through St Michael's Church at 11am on Monday 11th November on behalf of the Mayor and the Citizens of Bath.
The Pupils of St Michael's Junior School will also be attending and laying a wreath on behalf of the School at the same time.
We are hoping that a member of the Church will come out and give a few words of Comfort at this time.
We would be pleased to see as many residents who wish to pay their respects join us.

St Michael's Junior School Twerton
I am pleased to be able to tell readers that special needs children and St Michael's Junior School in Twerton are to have more equipment to help with their learning.
I have been able to make a donation of £490 to the friends of the School to buy specialist education equipment that will help many young people at the School, this has been made through the councillors initiative fund.
The money will add to the money that the Friends of the School raise through events that they organise and take part in during the School year with Children of the School.
A great deal of credit has to be paid to these volunteers who spend much of their free time putting others first.
I am always pleased to be able to help a forward looking School with many young energetic staff.
I have a small amount that I am still able allocate to projects in Twerton as has councillor Gerry Curran.
If you know of any small projects that needs some help then please let us know.
