Councillors Sarah Moore and Tim Ball are pleased to confirm they have arranged for a Christmas Tree to be erected on Twerton High Street for the community to enjoy. The tree will be placed on the grassed area at the end of Clyde Gardens.

Working with Bath Funeral Directors on Twerton Parade, baubles will be available free of charge, for residents to collect and write a message on to remember a loved one that is no longer with us, which can then be hung on the tree through the festive season. NB only baubles should be hung on the tree.

The tree is due to be installed on Monday 1st December and baubles will be available from Tuesday 2nd December onwards.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions.

Bath City Football - Redevelopment

As many of you will now know, the planning application from Greenacre Developments and Bath City Football Club have now been submitted and are open for comments from the public.

The planning application can be found here and the timeline for this application is as follows:

Date Application Received:                       22/05/2019
Date Application Validated:                       29/05/2019

Latest Site Notice posted on:                    13/06/2019
Expiry Date for Consultation:                    04/07/2019
Target Decision Date:                                28/08/2019

We are aware that this application has been received well by some residents but not by the majority of others and are keen to ensure as many people put their views forward on this as possible as it will shape how Twerton High Street will look for years to come.

Both Tim Ball and Sarah Moore have great concerns about the application in it's present form including over-development of the site and lack of infrastructure, specifically how the area will deal with the considerable larger quantity of bus issues that would arise from such a large increase in student population in the area.

We also feel that the lack of residents in the area out of term time and football season will not improve this area for a large period of the year, therefore being of no overall benefit to our area.  The inclusion of community and cafe facilities were apparently borne out of the resident consultations, however, since these were held, both Rose Cottage and the Village Hall have seen a large increase of resident involvement and this could therefore be detrimental to the already established community facilities within the village that local residents use.

As such both Tim Ball and Sarah Moore will be fully reviewing the large quantity of documentation that accompanies this application prior to making any representations to the Council about it and would urge all residents that have an opinion either way to do the same.  This re-development needs to benefit the community of Twerton and not just the developer and Football Club.

Public Spaces Protection Order (Street drinking)

Following numerous complaints from local residents, we are pleased to confirm we have managed to get agreement from both Bath & North East Somerset Council and the Police to make Twerton High Street a family friendly environment, with the implementation of a Public Spaces Protection Order.

This means that it is an offence to drink alcohol publicly and if caught may be issue with a Fixed Penalty Notice.

Councillor Tim Ball and local campaigner Sarah Moore were out in Twerton High Street yesterday erecting the notices, which means this order is now legally enforceable and anyone caught in contravention of this order can now be dealt with accordingly.

This is another step forward in making Twerton a community for everyone to enjoy.

Dogs mess Twerton High Street

I have been receiving rather a lot of complaints from residents about the amount of dogs mess that there is on Twerton High Street that is being caused by just a few dogs.

I have asked that the dogs mess is cleared up and that the culprits the dog owners are caught and dealt with.

It is annoying that some people are not caring enough to pick up the mess that their dogs are making.

Please let me know if you are aware of further problems.

Twerton High Street ( Potential traffic delays)

We have been informed of possible delays for traffic just under Twerton arch that will be in place between between 7th August to the 16th August,

Western Power are carrying out works in the-footpath and the highway and may be using traffic control signalling although I cant see the point as it is all one way.

The issue is that there is likely to be delays in traffic flows from the Lower Bristol Road into Twerton High Street and residents should be aware of possible delays.

Shophouse Road High Street Junction

A new crossing has been installed at the bottom of Shophouse Road very close to the Junction with Twerton High Street.

As part of the works the traffic priority has been changed meaning traffic from the Lower Bristol Road has to give way when approaching this junction.

I have asked for the sake of safety that advisory signs are put in place warning motorists of the change.

The work that ha been carried out has been done with financial support of the 4 councillors for Twerton & Westmoreland through the councils ward councillor initiative fund,
