Carrs Wood

We are privileged to have this wonderful open woodland on our doorstep, however, some residents think it is acceptable to throw their rubbish over the fences and make it someone else’s problem.

This rubbish not only ruins our woodland, but is harmful to the various wildlife that call this area their home,

We have asked the Council to clear all the rubbish and erect higher fencing to help protect this valuable woodland, it is not somewhere to dump household or private garden waste.

Update to rubbish and recycling collection times from August 2020

Bath anad North East Somerset councile are reviewing operating times to help crews during the hot weather. Rubbish and recycling collections will now start from 6am (instead of 7am) and will finish later than previously. Residents must leave their waste and recycling containers at the front edge of their property by 6am (one hour earlier) on their normal collection day. To ensure collections are not missed, residents are advised to put their containers out the night before their collection day (no earlier than 8pm).
Collection times are likely to vary throughout the day and bins may need to be left out longer than they normally would. Once bins have been collected, residents must bring their empty containers back in as soon as possible on their collection day.
Summary of changes to rubbish and recycling collection times
  • Collections now start an hour earlier from 6am
  • Crews may arrive earlier or later in the day than previously
  • Collection times are likely to vary throughout the summer
For more information and the latest updates please visit the Rubbish page of our website: https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/rubbish

Twerton and Whiteway Updates

We hope all residents across Twerton and Whiteway had a safe and peaceful Christmas Day.

Tim and Sarah have been out around the area today to check out a few issues and pick up on any other problems in the community, it was rather damp.

It is good to see that BT have finally removed all the damaged telephone boxes that have not been in operation for a while.

We have also made a list of other problems that need addressing in a number of streets across the ward and will report back on these early in the new year.

Please remember there is no rubbish or recycling collection this Friday, it will be collected on Monday 30th December, so please do not put anything out over the weekend as this is likely to be blown around the streets.

Linley Close litter and rubbish update

As many of you will be aware, we have been dealing with the on-going issue of litter and rubbish in Linley Close.

We have been working closely with Curo and BANES to reach a solution to help keep this area clean and are pleased that they have now carried out works to help reduce this issue.

As you will see from these pictures, it is an improvement and hope that all residents will benefit from this.

We will, of course, continue to monitor the area and make sure this solution works for all.

Poolemead Road - Bin has arrived

We are really pleased to see, that after months of waiting, we finally have a bin on Poolemead Road next to the bus stop.

It may have taken a bit longer than we had hoped, but this one has now been installed and we hope it will help reduce the large amount of litter in this area.

We are continue to chase for the other bins we have been promised in Pennyquick Park and on Shaws Way/Watery Lane.

We are also monitoring litter levels elsewhere around Twerton and will look to get additional bins installed in litter hotspots in the near future.

Highland Road ( street cleaning issues )

We have asked the council and Curo to take action to remove the weeds and rubbish from the footpaths in Highland Road.

Weeds that have grown through the paths are not acceptable  and residents should not be expected to put up with the untidy conditions that have been created.

We would expect the are to be brought back up to standard in a very short period of time.

We will be monitoring the condition of this area and will be chasing the matter up if it is not brought up to an acceptable standard.

Bin Changes at Cameley Green

The Council have decided to update its allocation of refuse collection receptacles in Cameley Green after many residents requested a change from bags to Bins.

The change is being made to accommodate resident’s requests and are being bulked up into rows or terraces, making them operationally agreeable.

Each property will be knocked and a letter left explaining the reasons for the change. The bin swaps will take place in the days after the following collection from the knock (starting on Monday 22 January 2018). The list of dates for the knocks and exchanges is also listed in the table attached.  All exchanges will be completed by mid-February 2018; there will be no disruptions to the service for these residents.

Letter regarding old refuse bins

Councillor Tim Ball has written to the conservative administration on Bath & North East Somerset Council about the old refuse bins that people are left with now that council has imposed its new bin and bag policies.

The letter is reproduced below.

15th November 2017

Councillor Bob Goodman
Cabinet for Development & Neighbourhoods
Bath & North East Somerset Council
Guildhall High Street
Bath

Dear Councillor Goodman

I am receiving many complaints from residents in Twerton regarding the disposal of their old dustbins now that the council is insisting that the new bins or bags that they have supplied must be used in place of bins residents already have.

I am aware that some of my residents have contacted the council to enquire about the disposal of their old bins to be told that they would be charged a disposal rate to have them taken away.

Councillor Goodman can I remind you that many of my residents live at or below poverty levels and can’t afford this extra cost just to fall into line with a new council waste policy.

This is just another issue that has not been thought through at all well in the rush to get this policy through.

I hope that you can tell me that I am wrong and you are arranging free collection of these unwanted and now not needed bins.

Sincerely

Redland Park walk around

Sarah Moore & Councillor Ball by fly tipped sofa

Councillor Tim Ball and I went for a walk around Redland Park yesterday.

Unfortunately, the level of rubbish and fly tipping is not getting any better.

We have asked for the sofa that has been dumped to be removed as soon as possible.

We have also asked for the whole area to be cleared up.  Rubbish was left lying all around Redland Park and the grass has even been cut around some of the rubbish, which is totally unacceptable.

More rubbish around the area
We have also asked Curo to get the overgown bushes and the weeds cleared up across the area.

Councillor Tim Ball is also contacting Curo to arrange a more regular programme of works is put in place to get this area monitored and rubbish/weeds removed promptly.

If you are aware of fly tipping or rubbish in your area that is not being cleared, please do get in touch.

Highland & Landseer Road

We have asked the council to clear up the litter and rubbish that has been allowed to build up on the rear footpaths on both Highland Road and Landseer Road.

Both you local Councillors have spent many and hour clearing up litter that has not been very well cleared up in the past.

We would hope that this area would be cleared up in the near future.

High Street Rubbish

Councillor Gerry Curran has asked the council to investigate who is dumping rubbish by the waste bin outside of the Learning Centre on Twerton High Street.

The amount of bags that are appearing at this location is starting to cause concern and we want to resolve this issue before it becomes a major problem.

If you know who is dumping this rubbish then please let us know.

East Way & Kelston View

Rubbish Out on wrong day

The pictures show rubbish that has been put out on the wrong day at both East Way & Kelston View.

The rubbish that has been put out on Kelston View is spreading across the area whilst the rubbish at East Way is a trip hazard.

We have asked that the council remove the rubbish as soon as possible and attempt to identify who put it out.

If you are aware who is responsible then would you please let us know.

Poolemead Road Litter picked

Gerry and I spent about an hour clearing up part of Poolemead Road below the Centurion Public House on Thursday morning.

In the short time we collected several sacks of rubbish, another team cleared Connection Hill and the rear of the bus depot removing 3 sacks of rubbish in a short time.

Thanks to all of those who helped.

Waste out on wrong days

We have had to report several households in the past few weeks for deliberately putting their waste out on the wrong days.

A particular problem last week was Kelston View and the properties have been reported to the council for investigation.

Putting waste out on the wrong day is not only dangerous as people could fall over it but it also gets scattered all over the roads meaning more expense for it to be cleared up.

Residents in Bath and North East Somerset are only permitted to place their waste out for collection from 8pm the evening before collection day. If waste is placed within the boundaries of private property it is the responsibility of the property owner.

Please help keep Twerton a cleaner place

Rubbish again left out late

We have again complained to the council that bags of rubbish are being left outside of the Centurion public House after the weekly waste collection on a Tuesday.

We have asked the council to investigate this matter and to remove the rubbish and to take the appropriate action to resolve the matter.

What a Mess on Kelston View

Thanks to the fast action of one of our local members this mess will soon be cleared up.

The council have already sent some on the clear this up as we do not want it blown all along Kelston View.

A very important message from this is to always put rubbish out is bags that are secure.

It is always important to ensure that you have not put any food waste in general rubbish bags that should only be used for plastics and non recyclable materials.

Any one wanting to know more about recycling can go to the council web site http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/services/bins-rubbish-and-recycling/recycling-and-rubbish
