Bus Shelters Twerton

We are pleased to see that the Bus Shelter in Poolemead Road has been repaired with new metal grids being put in place of the glass.

We are chasing the council to get the two Bus shelters at Newtown Road repaired using the same methods.

We will publish further updates as they become available.

Bus Shelter repairs

We are really pleased to confirm that the damaged bus shelters across the area are finally set to be repaired.

We have had confirmation that mesh, like this shown in the shelter on Haycombe Drive, will be replacing the sections which have had the glass smashed and work is scheduled to start week commencing 16th March 2020.

Bus Shelters

During 2019 we have seen almost all of the Bus Shelters in the area vandalised.  This is very disappointing and incurs a waste of valuable money and resources to continue to repair them.

Tim and Sarah are pleased to confirm that they have now received confirmation that shelters across the area will be repaired, however, instead of glass, the mesh that was installed in the Whiteway shelter (shown below) will be used.

This will hopefully provide the shelter needed for the people waiting for the bus whilst not obscuring the view or making the shelters too confined and reduce the prospect of vandalism.

Bus Shelter - Haycombe Drive

Following several conversations with residents and the Council, it is great to see the Bus shelter at the trees on Haycombe Drive has had the glass/plastic removed and replaced by mesh instead.

We will continue to monitor this shelter, but at least there will be no more broken glass in this area.

Bus Shelter Changes Haycombe Drive

The council are replacing the glass at the bus shelter at the circle Haycombe Drive with a metal mesh that will hopefully reduce the maintenance.

The mesh has been ordered and will hopefully be in place during the next few week.

This is a trail and if it works will be introduced in other shelters.

The Shelters shown are in other areas where its is working.
As always the cost of maintenance is born by the council tax payer and in ever decreasing budgets this will only put up council tax.

If you witness any one vandalising a bus shelter or know who has then please inform the Police and let us know as well

Kelston View Bath (Bus Shelter)

We have had complaints from residents about youths vandalising the Bus Shelter on Kelston View after school hours.

We have drawn this matter to the attention of the local Police and asked that they keep a close eye on the area.

Residents have told us that some of the youths have been verbally aggressive and we advise that people keep away from them and inform the Police of any problems of vandalism.

Bus Shelter Twerton High Street

we are please that the New bus shelter has at last gone in on Twerton High Street, although not quite the one we would have liked but we are pleased that we pursued the argument to get this one installed.

The reason that it has no back is that it is against a listed wall that needs constant access and if we put a back on it we would not under planning law be allowed to have it there.

We hope residents are happy that the Shelter has gone in it will make an ideal shelter for the many elderly residents that use this stop.

Wedgewood Road Bus Shelter

The Bus Shelter at Wedgewood Road is going to be replaced with a new shelter and seat in the spring of 2015

In the mean time we have arranged for the light fitting that is damaged to be repaired, we would hope that this would be done quickly.

A new Bus shelter has been installed on Kelston View by Wedgewood Road flats as part of the Bath Transport package to encourage greater bus use across the area.

The controversial bus build out by 38 Kelston View will soon be removed and the original bus stop put back as it was. This was brought about by complaints from local residents.

Bus Stop issues resolved at Twerton High Street.

We have now been able to resolve the issue of the Bus Stop outside of Clyde House in Twerton Highhigh Street.

Many residents have complained over a long time that we have not been able to provide a bus shelter at this point.

We are now pleased to be able to report that on Wednesday this week we were able to agree proposals  for the erection of a bus shelter at the above location.

The problem that was occurring was that the Shelter is to be against a listed wall and that the owner requires access to.

We have overcome this issue by having a shelter without a back using the natural wall as defence against the weather a free standing seat will also be provided.

We would hope that this would be installed before the worst of the winter weather.

Newton Road (Bus Shelters)

Cllr Gerry Curran at the new Shelter
The first of the New Bus Shelters has been put in at Newton Road opposite the Cost Cutter Shop.

This is the first of many news shelters that will be going up in the Twerton area over the next few months.

It should be noted that all of these shelters have new seats that the residents had told us that they wanted.
