Lower Bristol Road - National Grid works - UPDATE

THESE WORKS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED.

We have been notified of upcoming utility works that are likely to cause congestion in Bath from Saturday 11th to Friday 17th February (school half term), that we want to make you aware of.

National Grid need to provide a new high voltage cable for the new development on the former Dick Lovett car showroom site on Lower Bristol Road.

The works involve an excavation across Lower Bristol Road, and requires the permanent signals at the junction with Windsor Bridge Road to be turned off and replaced with temporary 4 way signals. This is what we expect will cause delays, and due to the temporary pedestrian crossings require an all-red stage in the temporary signals.

Advanced warning signs will be in place before the works commence, and variable messaging signs will inform motorists of any delays. Emergency services and bus operators will also be informed.

Poolemead Road resurfacing

Following several years of chasing, we are pleased to confirm we have now received confirmation that the funding has been secured to resurface the remaining section of Poolemead Road from its junction with Sheridan Road up to the junction with Whiteway Road.

We will confirm as soon as the actual commencement date has been agreed.

We have also had requests for double yellow lines to be put in on the bend at the top of Poolemead Road near the Junction with Sheridan Road and these have also been agreed to go into the next TRO process.

Poolemead Road improvements

Poolemead Road will be closed from the junction with Sheridan Road to just below the Centurian pub from 23rd January 2023 for approximately 2 weeks.

This is to allow long awaited improvements to be put in place to make safer crossing points for everyone but especially to the school and nursery.

These changes should slow the traffic, making it safer and easier for pedestrians to get across the road.

Unfortunately we are unable to arrange for the road resurfacing to take place at the same time, however, we are pushing to get the remainder of Poolemead Road resurfaced.

We will provide an update on bus services nearer the start date.
