Kelston View

We have asked for the Junction of Wedgewood Road and Kelston View to be resurfaced as soon possible.

The picture shows the poor condition of the road surface some of this caused by the excessive poor weather that we have been having.

As this is a major bus route we hope that this will be quickly resolved.

Innox Park

We have asked the council to remove the fly tipping at Innox Park, this has been dumped by some inconsiderate person.

If you are aware who dumped this then please let us know so we can ensure that they are made fully aware of the consonances of their actions.

We have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of readers the year and would hope that the local content of this blog is useful.

If we can be of help in any way then please get in touch.

Landseer Road

The council are applying for traffic regulation orders for parts of Landseer Road and on the look of it these seem very sensible.

But after saying that we would like to hear from any residents that have any concerns about the proposals that are indicated on the Map below.

Please let either Tim or Gerry know your views on these as soon as possible so we can feed in any comments.

Thursday 13 February 2014

Poolemead Road

We have received notice from the council that they are seeking a traffic regulation order to remove double yellow lines on a section of Poolemead Road between 57 & 43.

This is in line for what residents have asked for and has been supported by Twerton Ward Councillors.

This will enable additional off road parking and not necessarily on road parking.

If you have any concerns about these proposals please let us know.

Linley Close

We have asked Curo to ensure that the Fridge and gas bottles to are removed from the Linley Close garage area as soon as possible.

We have also asked that the drain is cleared at the turning area at Linley Close as it is not draining away.

We would hope that these matters would soon be sorted out.

Whats on In Twerton

We have received the following from Time Bank about what they are putting on in the next few months please feel free to take part.

Time Bank

First of all, thanks so much to all those who responded to requests in our last newsletter and who have offered help in many ways. We really appreciate the time, commitment and skills you contribute, which makes a real difference to the local community.

We have plenty of new opportunities and activities going on this month. If any of these are of interest, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. If there is something else you’d like either to offer or to participate in, please let us know. As usual, everything we offer is FREE of charge to our members.

We are offering cookery sessions as from Monday 24th February, focussing on simple, affordable and healthy cooking for all the family. This will take place at St Michael’s Junior School, Newton Road, Twerton, on Monday afternoons from 3.30 – 5.30pm. Children are welcome but they need to be accompanied by a parent or carer who takes responsibility for their behaviour and safe participation.

Also at St Michael’s School, we are offering art and craft classes on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 to 8.30pm. This is a fantastic, creative group, led by Sophie and Lotte, both of whom have loads of ideas and enthusiasm as well as lots of artistic experience. This group is also open to all ages.

We are offering a short course in First Aid for Babies on Monday 3rd March from 10 – 12pm. This will take place at First Steps Children’s Centre, Dominion Road, Twerton. Please let us know if you would like a place.

We are holding a Fun Day at Pennyquick Park, Twerton on Saturday 5th April from 2 – 4pm. We will be offering a range of outdoor taster activities, some of which will continue on a weekly basis. These will include cycle maintenance, circus skills, nature walks & outdoor cooking, football, gardening and more. We would also welcome volunteers to help on the day. Please let us know if you can offer a couple of hours’ assistance.

Weston Children’s Centre have asked if we have any volunteers who would be interested in helping with toddler groups at the centre. Their role would be to work alongside parents, helping and encouraging play activities, and also offering general help with refreshments, etc. This would need to be a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week for 6 months, and volunteers would need to attend an interview at the Children’s Centre and supply references. May suit a parent or older adult.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust are leading regular weekly sessions on our allotment at Bath City Farm every Wednesday, starting at 12 midday. This is an opportunity to get out in the fresh air with a small group of volunteers and learn how to grow food in a wildlife friendly way.

We are helping to run a school gardening group at St Michael’s School, Twerton, growing vegetables, fruit and flowers in the school grounds. Weekly sessions will be held on Thursday afternoons as from 6th March, from 3 – 4pm, working alongside children and parents. Please let us know if you would like to come along.

We are able to take on small decorating and DIY jobs. Please let us know if you need help with a practical task in your home or if you are interested in helping.

Also, our gardening team is always keen to welcome new members and meets at 9.45am on Wednesday mornings, weather permitting.  They are able to help with occasional work in your garden.

One of our volunteers is offering English tuition to foreign students and others, particularly anyone whose first language is Spanish, French, German or Italian.

One of our volunteers has asked if anyone is able to offer him tuition in Music Theory.

Energy advice sessions are being held at the Time Bank office on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 10 - 12. Whether you own your home or are a private tenant, you may be entitled to free insulation or even a new boiler.

And finally…. football coaching will be starting in early April at Pennyquick Park. This will take place on a Tuesday from 4.30 to 6.30pm. This will be available to young people (both male and female) between the ages of 12 and 18. Contact us for further details.

Dominion Road to Freeview Road

We are pleased to hear that Curo are about to clear up the patch of land between Dominion road and Freeview Road that runs via Hanna Close.

This land has for a long time been left in a terrible state and been a beacon for rubbish and fly tipping.

We will continue to work with Curo to ensure that this land remains in a good condition.

Avon & Somerset Police are running an on line survey about anti-social behaviour and would like to hear your views.

Hanna Close

We have received confirmation from Curo that they are going to clear up the mess in the Car Park area at Hanna Close.

They have confirmed that they will be tidying the bushes up making sure that the area is left in a clean and tidy condition.

We have had discussions with Curo regarding one particular garage user who seems to be making the most amount of mess.

We have both been down to this area on many an occasion and cleared it up only to return the following day to see it in the same state as it was before got there.

We are asking Curo to take action to resolve the problem of this particular user.
