Twerton and Whiteway Ward Councillor update - w/e 30.05.2026

Here is this weeks update on what your Councillors Tim Ball and Sarah Moore have actioned in the area -

Whiteway Road/Pennyquick Hill - We have contacted the Council to ask when the sunken drains near the junction with Newton Road are going to be repaired.

Blagdon Park - We have reported the broken fencing along the lane between numbers 9 and 10, the holes by the bait station and the fly-tipping outside number 58.

Sheridan Road - We have reported the cracked/damaged concrete road surface near 101 and requested it is stabilised and repaired to stop it rocking when vehicles travel over it.

Poolemead Road - We have contacted the Council to discuss the on-going issue of plastic not being cleared prior to grass cutting resulting in it being shredded and spread across the grass and road.

Kelston View - We requested the flytipping by the houses near the city farm to be removed.

Shophouse Road - We have asked when the light column will be replaced on the zebra crossing and had confirmation that it is booked for 3rd - 4th June.

Area wide - We have reported the excessive graffiti that has appeared across our area, the tags are the product of one individual.

Freeview Road/Hanna Close - We have asked the Council and Curo to cut the grass in this area.

Redland Park - We are continuing to work closely with the Police, Curo and the Council to try and stop the motorbikes using the fields and woods behind Redland Park and Woodhouse Road as their own personal race track.

Please be aware our Ward Surgery will not be taking place on Saturday 6th June, it will be on Saturday 13th June (as previously advertised).

Planning Applications for Twerton and Whiteway w/c 25.05.2026

This week we have no new planning application for Twerton and Whiteway.

Haycombe Drive flooding update

Following conversations with residents and several emails concerning issues on a section of Haycombe Drive that was constantly subject to severe flooding whenever we had heavy rain, Councillors Sarah Moore and Tim Ball met with Council Officers to discuss options to find a suitable resolution.

Councillors Sarah Moore and Tim Ball are pleased to confirm that the gullies on either side of the road have now been considerably widened and new large drain covers put in place.

We hope that this will now resolve the issue, but will be carefully monitoring the area.

Lansdown View Resurfacing update

Although Lansdown View is not in our ward, this will impact a large number of our residents.

As you may be aware the condition of Lansdown View has been deteriorating and is in a very poor state.

We have had confirmation that the resurfacing is now planned for 22nd - 26th June 2026, this will mean the road will be closed between 07:00 and 19:00 each day whilst the resurfacing takes place.

There will also be 2 way traffic lights at the top of Lansdown View on Shophouse Road to enable the resurfacing vehicles to maneuver whilst carrying out the work near this junction.

We will keep you updated should these dates change.

Haycombe Drive drainage update

Following meetings with BANES Highways officers we agreed work needed to be carried out to alleviate the flooding issues on Haycombe Drive.

We are pleased to confirm a team will be onsite between 18th and 22nd May to enlarge the gullies in the above are to help the water to flow away easier.

We will continue to monitor this area after the work has been completed to see if any further works are required.

The traffic will be managed by the workmen on a give and take basis whilst the work is carried out and some parking restrictions may be in place as and when required.
