Student Community partnership

This is Our Shared City

The Student Community Partnership (SCP) is a joint commitment between the Higher Education Institutions in Bath and B&NES Council to work together to promote and improve the relationship between long-term and student residents living in Bath – Our Shared City.

The eight partners are:

The SCP team supports student and long-term residents in coming together and living collaboratively in the community of Bath, by running campaigns to improve community relations, safety in the night-time economy and around the river, and initiatives that promote sustainability.

We provide opportunities for volunteering and encourage active citizenship. The Partnership helps all residents to work together for the benefit of the community and ensures all residents have an active voice.

The SCP offers support when issues arise as we all live life together, and is here for the community of Bath as we all share our city.

Please contact us with suggestions and any concerns that you would like addressed by the SCP email scp@bath.ac.uk.

Cleeve Court Community Resource Centre inspection

A person holds the hands of another in a caring way.

Bath & North East Somerset Council has acknowledged the findings of a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection at its Cleeve Court Community Resource Centre which found the home maintains a positive culture of safety and openness.

An inspectors’ report identified improvements in governance systems and said further work is needed to ensure care plans are consistent and staff have the training and guidance required to deliver safe, high-quality care.

Councillor Alison Born, cabinet member for Adult Services, said: “I want to reassure our residents, families and staff that we are continuing to address the areas that require improvement as identified in the report. We value the positive feedback from residents and their families in the report and will continue to work closely with them and healthcare partners to ensure Cleeve Court provides safe, compassionate, and person-centred care. Our staff work hard and are committed to delivering the best care for our residents.”

Key findings showed infection control and medicine management were effective, and the home environment was well-maintained and systems were in place to manage the environment safely.

People and relatives reported feeling safe and spoke positively about staff care and responsiveness.

The report acknowledged inclusive leaders who demonstrated integrity, openness, and honesty throughout the inspection. It said there was a positive culture where people felt they could speak up and be heard and that diversity was valued.

However, the report found care plans lacked sufficient detail for some clinical tasks, creating potential risks and there were not always clear responsibilities, roles, or systems of accountability.

The full CQC report is available here.

Christmas Tree up

Councillors Sarah Moore and Tim Ball are pleased to confirm they have arranged for a Christmas Tree to be erected on Twerton High Street for the community to enjoy.

The tree has be been placed on the grassed area at the end of Clyde Gardens.

NB only baubles should be hung on the tree.

Christmas and New Year rubbish and recycling collections

Every household has been sent a leaflet advising them of changes to the recycling and rubbish collection dates and highlighting the outstanding 60% recycling rate achieved across the area, which has helped save 51,000 tonnes of waste – enough to pack Bath Abbey to its vaulted ceiling around 14 times. You can also check your collection dates online.
