Twerton and Whiteway Ward Councillor weekly update - 04.05.2025

Here is this weeks update on what your Councillors Tim Ball and Sarah Moore have actioned in the area.

Blagdon Park - We requested Curo removed the broken, dangerous railings, which they did the next day, however, they left a deep hole, which we have asked them to fill in.

Walwyn Close - We have issues with the street lights here, which we have reported. We have asked the Council to clean the small lane of weeds and litter and keep it maintained. We also asked for all the recycling and rubbish to be removed from the bin store, this was not collected for several weeks as a vehicle was parked in front of the storage area preventing access.

Shophouse Road - A temporary British Heart Foundation clothes collection bank has been placed in a very dangerous position and so we have requested this is moved.

Mill Lane - We have asked for the considerable about of weeds to be cleared.

Rosewarn Close - We have asked Curo to confirm when the railings will be replaced on the edge of Whiteway Green. We have also asked for an update on what is happening with the old toddler play area.

Haycombe Drive/Kelston View Junction - we arrange for the post to be replaced after being knocked out. Which was resolved within 24 hours.

Parking Restrictions - a number of new parking restrictions we proposed this week, most of which were requested by residents, however, there are 3 areas that were requested by FirstBus which residents have contact us about, we have been to the sites as follows:

How Hill - Double Yellow lines proposed to make the corner safer, however, both the residents and us believe the lines are too extensive and have requested these are adjusted.

Newton Road/Shaws Way Junction - extension of existing double yellow lines, again when we visited the site we witnessed a bus pulling out whilst vehicles were already parked and there were not issues, and so we have asked for these to be removed from the proposals.

Haycombe Drive - these lines are proposed to ensure the bus can turn into Haycombe Drive unhindered, however, again we feel these are too extensive and requested a reduction in the length.

We will be putting a separate blog covering all the proposed parking changes, which have been requested for safety reasons.

Councillor Ward Surgery - We had a number of residents come and visit us at our ward surgery this week with personal casework issues.

Twerton and Whiteway Wombles are carrying out a litterpick in Redland Park next Saturday at 11am, please do go and join them if you can.

Sarah and Tim completed over 50 pieces of personal casework this week.

If you have any issues in your street or need our help please do get in touch.
