Road Safety - Poolemead Road/Sheridan Road

Following requests from residents earlier this year, it is great to see the white keep clear lines have now been painted on Poolemead Road/Sheridan Road.

The keep clear lines have been put on both sides of Poolemead Road from the Junction with Whiteway Road and also from the Junction of Sheridan Road along Poolemead Road towards the rear of the Southside Centre.

There have been a number of issues with cars, vans and even coaches parking in this area restricting traffic flow and making visibility and pedestrian safety a large concern for a number of residents.

We are hopeful this should now make the area safer for everyone, however, please do let us know if there are any continuing issues.

Shaws Way, Poolemead Road

It is good to see that the new keep clear markings have been installed on both Shaws Way and Poolemead Road that we asked for some months ago.


The Shaws Way markings allow the bus enough room to get around the corner from Poolemead road without the need to mount the kerb.

The new white lines further up on Poolemead Road are a relief for local residents with walking impairments and give easier access from the road to adjacent footpaths.

Poolemaed Road

 We have asked the council to introduce new white lines in front of several access paths on Poolemead Road to allow elderly and sometimes disabled residents to be able to get from the road to the safety of the footpath towards their homes.


At the moment this paths are often blocked with parked cars, the picture clearly indicate two sets of steps with lines in place and the path opposite with no lines.

We would hope that the council would be able to carry out this work quite quickly making the whole area much safer.

St Michaels Road

I have asked the council to put white keep clear lines down in front of the two set of steps at the East Close end of St Michaels Road.

It seems that these two sets of steps are the only ones without the White lines in front of them and we are now receiving complaints about cars parking in front of these steps causing distress to some of our least mobile residents.
