BANES Local Plan Consultation

The Bath and North East Somerset Council Local Plan is expected to go out for public consultation later this year, following sign off by the Council’s Cabinet.

The emerging Local Plan will set the planning framework for Bath and North East Somerset up to 2042. It will include a clear vision, strategy and planning policies to guide how the district grows and changes over the next 15–20 years, and how planning applications for new development are decided.

As soon as the consultation links are published, we will share details of how you can have your say via our blog: https://twerton-community-news.blogspot.com

Residents in Twerton and Whiteway regularly raise concerns with us about the shortage of family housing and the proliferation of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs). The Liberal Democrats are insisting that the emerging Local Plan must include stronger controls over the conversion of family homes into HMOs, while also proposing solutions to the housing shortage. This will be your opportunity to have your say on these policies and help shape the area.

These include a potential development site to the west of Bath, which could provide much needed local housing for our communities.

Additional Council Housing

If approved, the Local Plan would help unlock new affordable housing across the district. This would include new homes to be provided by the Council and for social rent. The Liberal Democrats are committed to delivering genuinely affordable housing for local residents.

If you would like to discuss this with us, please contact Tim and Sarah who will be happy to meet with you.

Please make sure your voice is heard by taking part in the consultation when it opens
