Bath City Football Club development plans

Bath City Football Club are holding a listening event on the way in which the Twerton Park site is developed fits the needs of the local community. This is an exciting opportunity to provide facilities which will be of value to everyone in the area. There is also a need to develop part of the site in a commercial manner – so as to provide the income to secure the financial future of Bath City FC and cover the costs of building community facilities.

Bath City need residents input on this so that they draw the best conclusions. In order to start hearing residents thoughts early on in the process they are running a listening session on:

•       The type of facilities and services which will be of most relevance to you and others in the local area

•       The way the commercial element of the site is developed

This will be held on Tuesday 21st November at 5.30-7.00pm, in Charlie’s at Twerton Park, and we hope to hold repeat events according to the local demand.

This will be a very informal event in which everyone attending will be grouped into smaller tables of 6-7 people. Each group will be facilitated by independent volunteers, who have no agenda and are completely unbiased.

There will also be some refreshments, so it it is important that you do try your hardest to attend if you have said you will do so.

Twerton High Street (Bath City)

Bath City football club have big ambitions to redevelop the stand and frontage to their ground and that could include more shopping, living accommodation, and community based services.

There is a real opportunity for a revamp of the whole area from High Street towards the ground over the next decade but will the club and its partners in the community as well as business leaders be willing to take the brave step.

It remains to be seen how this will affect the whole community in the High Street area.

We will be seeking clarification that can be shared in public how far the club is willing to go and what sort of consultation with the community will take place.

What is clear is that we will publish information as it becomes available and ensure that the public have their say on this very important matter.

Danters Funfair at Bath City

Danter's Funfair will be returning to Twerton Park, next week, from Thursday 13 October until Sunday 16 October 2016.

The operating hours will be Thursday and Friday 17:00-21:00, Saturday 12:00-21:00 and Sunday 12:00-19:00.

As in previous visits, Danter's Funfair will close promptly each evening and the football club will notify the immediate neighbours in advance of these operating hours by letter.

Heritage Day Saturday 7th May

An exhibition of heritage memorabilia and other from the past is being held at Bath City Football Club this Saturday It takes place this Saturday from 10am till 4 Pm.

From past experience this is well worth a visit even if you are nit a heritage buff.

So if you are at a loose end this Saturday why not pay a visit and see what is on show or for sale.

Fair is back in Twerton

The fair is back in Twerton again and is at Bath City football ground until Sunday night.

The fair closes at 9pm sharp to protect the local residents from too much disturbance and does not have loud amplified music.

Why not take the kids to the fair this weekend and help support Bath City football ground.

If the fair is a success it could become a feature several times a year so it is down to you residents to ensure that it is a success and to depart the area with as little fuss as possible when you have enjoyed yourselves at the fair.

Bath City take on Eastleigh

Tonight is Bath City's first home match of the season. 

Bath city won on Saturday, away at Bishops Stortford on the seasons opener, and tonight they play Eastleigh at home. apparently Eastleigh are every bookies favourite to romp away with the title (they also won their first match of the season).

Why not go along and support city tonight and encourage them to an even better start than they already have and dent the prospects of Eastleigh.

Bath City Football Club has teamed up with BBC Radio Bristol & Somerset to raise money for CLIC Sargent with a charity football match on Sunday 21^st July.

The main event is a football match between BBC Radio Bristol & Somerset XI vs Curo Housing XI, kicking off at 1pm followed by an auction. The BBC’s team is made up of sports presenters Geoff Twentyman and Richard Hoskin, with a helping hand from former Bristol Rovers striker David Mehew, and Bristol’s television chef Dean Edwards.

The Curo football team play matches against other Social Landlords and Curo Suppliers such as Touchstone Property, Taylor Wimpey and Merlin Housing Society as a Social event mainly. However when Darren Scadding's 3 year old son, George, was Diagnosed with Cancer in June 2012 they looked at raising funds for CLIC Sargent who have provided a support network for the family and worked closely with Bristol Children’s Hospital. After a long battle George passed away on the 15th January 2013 and so a fund was set up in his name, where they have currently £6.5k and their target of £10k.

The money raised will go to charity very close to the staff at Curo. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. They provide clinical, practical and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. Kiren Fernandes, Fundraising Manger said “Since setting up Georgie’s Fund Darren and his family have raised almost £6,000 – which is absolutely fantastic! The money raised to date could fund a CLIC Sargent social worker for 8 weeks for families based in Bristol and Somerset. Our CLIC Sargent social workers are there from the moment of diagnosis, and help families understand and cope with the emotional, practical and financial effects of cancer, through treatment and even in the case of bereavement”. Darren commented on the work CLIC Sargent do, “everybody at Curo and CLIC Sargent have been supportive to me”. Gates will open at 12 noon with a large car park at the ground, with food and drink available in the Charlies (main bar) with a burger outlet inside the ground. After the game in Charlies there will be chance to mix with the players and representatives of the charities followed by an auction.

Bath City What Future do they have in Twerton ?

The debate on the future of Bath City Football Club in Twerton is one that is starting to focus on the minds of many Twerton residents.

Bath City have been in Twerton since 1909 and have been good neighbours for many years now and the thought of them not being around is a subject that we now need to address.

Councillor Tim Ball said: "The Club has been very clear with us that it is their intention to move from Twerton Park in the next few years due to very severe financial constraints.

We now have to address what will happen to the ground if and when they vacate".

Your local councillors have been in close discussions with the Club and the local authority as to what the ground is capable of providing.

Councillor Gerry Curran said: " It is now almost certain that Bath City will leave Twerton Park and we need to know what residents feel should happen with the ground.

Do Bath City Football Club have a future in Twerton is a question that has been on every ones mind for a long time now?

It is very clear that Bath City have severe financial constraints and are considering every option available to them.

The Club have been a cornerstone in Twerton for many years and the thought of not having them around is a real prospect that is being addressed through discussions that your Councillors are having with the club itself.

The ideal solution for Twerton is that the club will survive and prosper in Twerton and be able to put their ground in good order, but we have to have the alternatives in mind and we will continue working for the best Solution for the club and Twerton its self.

Cllr Manda Rigby, Chairman Bath City FC has written to us and we publish below her words to us.

Bath City Club Bath City FC has been a part of Twerton life since 1909, but now is sadly going to have to move as the ground is no longer fit for purpose, and would cost too much to upgrade without adding on some other commercial activity which would not suit Twerton as a community, or would require more space than we currently own. The trick will be to get the best result for Twerton in terms of what will replace the ground and all the community assets it now offers. 

I am happy to talk to any and all community groups from the area, and have been discussing options with your ward Councillors, and have a sincere hope that this move overall can prove positive for 
all...attract some new activity, money, and regeneration into Twerton, whilst securing the future of the football club for the long term. 

In the meanwhile, we are here for the foreseeable future, so please book your events with us, enjoy the facilities, use the wonderful market, support the team.

It seems that Cerys new Husband is a fan of promotion chasing Luton Town who Bath City held to a 0-0 draw.
