Lower Bristol Road Parking

In March this year we met with Highways officers to discuss options for restricting parking and making crossing the Lower Bristol Road safer. 

We discussed the option of putting in additional parking bays and restricting the parking on the rest of this stretch of road with double yellow lines as per the plan below.

We have responded to these options stating that we do not think parking opposite the turning into the bus depot is suitable and also asked for costings for a light controlled crossing to be installed.

The risk of not putting in any additional parking on this stretch of road would mean there is even more opportunity of speeding on a wide open road.

We have chased up progress on this as we feel it is now become an urgent issue and does meet the criteria for improving walking routes.

We will provide a further update as soon as we have received an up to date response from the Highways team.

Parking Restrictions Poolemead Road

Last week we raised the issue that the order to remove double yellow lines from the road opposite to the island at Wedgewood Road had been approved.

We can now confirm that these yellow lines have now been removed allowing for off road parking as originally intended.

We have already heard from a number of residents we are pleased that we have been able to resolve this difficult problem.

Landseer Road

The council are applying for traffic regulation orders for parts of Landseer Road and on the look of it these seem very sensible.

But after saying that we would like to hear from any residents that have any concerns about the proposals that are indicated on the Map below.

Double Yellow Lines

The issue of Double Yellow Lines has become an issue in several parts of Twerton in recent months

The law states that the double yellow must apply from the centre line of the road to the property boundary so the Council have no discretion on that but to enforce any parking infringement.

The Council have stepped up its enforcement through efficiency gains and it is unearthing a few of these type of problems which in the past have gone unenforced.

We have arranged a meeting with officers of the council next week to resolve some of the anomalies that have been unearthed and a resolution to the problem will be consulted upon with residents before being put into place.

The main area that this has been a problem is Poolemead Road where we are also resolving other issues and we hope that we can resolve these problems.
