Update litter picking blocked drains Fix my street

Both Sarah Moore and Tim Ball joined litter pickers on Saturday and cleared a large area from the top of Poolemead Road to the Wedgewood Road Junction the whole of Wedgewood Road and Eleanor Close.

In all 9 bags full of rubbish and litter were removed.

We also came across several road drains full up with silt and have reported there using the fix my street application.

Many thanks for the volunteers that came out with us the whole area looks much better now.

Shophouse Road Drains

I have today reported the three blocked drains on Shophouse Road that I saw today.

It looks like the drains are full of builders rubble from the new house build on Shophouse Road.

It should be an issue that the council should chase the delevoper for the cost of clearing these drains and I would hope that they would do so.

The council have scheduled this work and it should be completed shortly.

Blocked drains in Twerton

I have asked the council to clear the drains at several locations in Twerton particularly the ones in Shaw's Way and Watery Lane some of which are so silted up they will not be able to take any water in to them.

With the amount of leaves that are around the matter is only made worse.

The council has to make more effort to ensure that water is easily able to drain away by keeping drains and gullies clear.

Other areas of the country have had floods in the past due to blocked drains Bath & North East Somerset have not learned  the lesson.

Blocked Drains

We have reported blocked drains in both Kelston View and Watery lane to the Council in the past few days and have asked that they are cleared as soon as possible.

It is important that all drains are kept clear and if you know of any further drains that need dealing with then please let us know.

Freeview Road ( blocked drains )

We have asked both Curo and the council to explain why a blocked drain on the footpath on Freeview by number 48 has now been concreted over.

Earlier this year we published pictures on this blog showing the problems with water overflowing on this footpath and excess water cascading down some steps.

It should be interesting to receive their replies.
