Freeview Road - Additional Parking

I am really pleased to see that the first section of the additional parking in Freeview Road will be available for use from tomorrow.

This has been a long time coming, I first lobbied Tim Ball in 2016 and despite getting funding secured, the work resource was not allocated.

The second section will not be open until Friday as we are waiting for a Gas main to be lowered.

Hopefully, this will help to relieve some of the parking pressures this road has experienced for a considerably long time.

Freeview Road - New parking

Residents in Freeview Road have experienced considerable difficulty with parking provision for a long time and we have been working for a number of years to get agreement for additional spaces to be provided.  This was one of the commitments we made during the election and are pleased to be able to finally make it happen.

Having secured funding, we are pleased to confirm that the Highways team have agreed the following 2 areas for additional parking in Freeview Road:

 

This provision is next to the existing parking near the entrance to Innox Park.  Unfortunately, there are no suitable areas in the middle of Freeview Road, but these spaces should help to reduce the pressures further along the road. 

As soon as the work order has been placed with the contractor we will let residents know.

We are also still working with residents in other areas of Twerton & Whiteway where parking is also an issue to try and find a resolution. 

Freevew Road - Update

Tim and Sarah have requested a meeting on Freeview Road with the Highways team to look at what can be done on both sides of the road to clear the increasing amount of weeds in the gutters.  This issue has been left for far too long and needs urgent attention.

They are also chasing up timescales for the Grasscrete to be installed and will confirm back to residents as soon as this has been scheduled.

Freeview Road - parking updates

We have been alerted to a leaflet being put out in Freeview Road today. we understand leaflet was talking about parking bays and not the funding that we have secured putting in grass crete to allow parking on the grass areas.

Councillor Tim Ball and Sarah Moore have carried out a considerable amount of work on this issue including meetings, emails and telephone conversations, we first received firm costings for the work in September 2016 and have been fighting hard to get a resolution.

We are really pleased to have received the below confirmation this morning that shows money has been allocated for some of the parking improvements to be made on Freeview Road.

Following our telephone conversation I can confirm funding that was recommended by Bath City Forum was signed off through a single member decision that was cleared in 18th September

£14,400 allocation from the Bath CIL neighbourhood portion for application BA-036, a contribution towards parking improvements located at Site C, Freeview Road, Twerton Bath.  

£19,600 allocation from the Bath CIL neighbourhood portion for application BA-037, a contribution towards parking improvements located at Site E, Freeview Road, Twerton Bath.

We will of course continue to fight to find more funding to carry out additional works on other areas of the road and will provide an update on this when we receive it.

Freeview Road (parking etc)

I have asked the council to remove the mud from the pavement at this section of Freeview Road.

I have also asked Curo for two bollards to be installed on the edge of the grass area that is being totally destroyed by vehicles reversing off and driving onto this area.

In the medium term I am waiting to see if this area will be added to the councils capital program to create additional parking.

I have also asked Curo to contribute to the cost of any parking spaces that are created.

Freeview Road ( parking )

After months of work we now have the costings for the much needed extended parking areas.

We will now be working with Curo and Bath & North East Somerset Council to identify the ares that can be delivered quickly and who will pay for them.

We will keep residents updated as to how quick we can deliver these areas.

Pavement parking

Many residents are contacting us regarding pavement parking after we highlighted the issue so we thought that we would give you a quick update.

Residents tell us that they feel it's important to be able to park close to their homes but are critical of parking on the pavement which many see as wrong as it causes difficulties for mobility impaired people and parents with children.

We have already met Curo and are meeting with the council in a few weeks time to discuss what can be done in Freeview Road and Sheridan Road.

Don't Park on the Pavement

The issue of pavement parking has again been highlighted after an elderly Man fell an broke his hip navigating around parked Cars in Freeview Road Twerton yesterday afternoon.

On this occasion the gentleman was sat up in bed last night but will need an operation but a more frail person could have been killed.

It is clear that parking on the pavement is dangerous and should be avoided at all times, as this causes danger to pedestrians.

The Police in the past have turned a blind eye to some pavement parking but have now been asked to clamp on pavement parking and issue fines to those doing it.

If you park on the pavement and do not give enough space for a single buggy to get past then you are now liable to get a penalty notice on your car, so if in doubt don't do it.

We are working with the council Police and Curo to resolve some of the parking issues across the whole of Twerton and will soon be consulting residents on some solutions that we are developing.

In the mean time please do not park on the Pavements unless you want to be held responsible for someone being seriously injured or killed.

Freeview Road Parking problems

We are working hard to address the awful parking problems on Freeview Road where cars are constantly parking on the pavement halfway along the road.

Councillor Tim Ball has called for a meeting of The Police, Curo, and the council highway officers to discuss how we can deal with the problem and bring about an urgent solution to the problem.

Footpath Dominion Road to Freeview Road

We have asked that this footpath is again cleared up as it has go into quite a mess.

We hope that this will be cleared up in the next few days.

We have asked that the council keep a check on this path to ensure that it does not get into a mess in the future.

Dominion Road

We have asked the council to chase up the matter of Dogs mess on the path going past Bath City Football Club.

We have asked that the dog warden keep an eye on the area to try yo catch the dog owner involved.

We gave also chased up the cleaning standards of the land from Dominion Road to Freeview Road, and have asked that the sign to Freeview Road is also replaced.

New street lights

We are pleased to see the new street lights going up in Twerton.

The new lights are low energy and emit a white light that allows people to see more clearly at night.

It is always important that residents feel safe at night and that we also ensure that we can afford as a council to keep the lights on with ever increasing energy costs and reduced council budgets.

Dominion Road

 We have asked that the council clean up the footpath that runs from Dominion Road to Freeview Road, we have also asked that the whole of Dominion Road is litter picked as soon as possible.

It seems that this area has been missed in the last few weeks and we are keen to see it brought back up to standard.

The pictures clearly show that this needs to be sorted asap.

Litter bins Hollow &

We are pleased that the litter bin has been replaced at the Hollow and also that the litter bin that was broken at Freeview road has also been replaced.

We are keen to ensure that all of the litter bins in the area are fully functional and are fit for purpose.

If you know of any bins that need replacing then please let us know.

Missing an broken litter bins

We have asked that the litter bin that has been removed by the footpath close to the White horse Public House is replaced as soon as possible.

We have also asked that the litter bin by 13 Freeview road that is in the verge of collapsing is replaced as soon as possible.

We hope that these will be replaced shortly.

Freeview Road ( blocked drains )

We have asked both Curo and the council to explain why a blocked drain on the footpath on Freeview by number 48 has now been concreted over.

Earlier this year we published pictures on this blog showing the problems with water overflowing on this footpath and excess water cascading down some steps.

It should be interesting to receive their replies.

Dominion Road to Freeview Road

We are pleased to hear that Curo are about to clear up the patch of land between Dominion road and Freeview Road that runs via Hanna Close.

This land has for a long time been left in a terrible state and been a beacon for rubbish and fly tipping.

We will continue to work with Curo to ensure that this land remains in a good condition.

Street Lights

We have reported the lamp post number 8 between Dominion Road and Freeview road as not working and in need of repair.

We would hope that this light would be repaired fairly quickly as it sits on a dark lane.

Freeview Road

The Police have agreed to monitor the problem of parking on the pavements half way along Freeview Road and take enforcement action if needed. It is a shame that we have had to get to this point but as there are many people in the area with mobility problems and we need to put them first.
