Litter Bins

Whilst Twerton and Whiteway is starting to look a lot cleaner, with thanks to an increasing number of residents that are voluntarily spending time out and about picking up litter, we still have a few areas that would benefit from the installation of a litter bin.

Tim and Sarah are working hard to secure more bins in various locations around the ward including a replacement bin at the top of Innox Park.

We would like to encourage people to take responsibility for their own rubbish, whether it is a sweet wrapper, cigarette butt or even food waste, litter is only on our streets because people decide to chuck it there.

Together we can make our area the cleanest in Bath & North East Somerset.

Litter bins replaced

We are pleased that the council have replaced the two litter bins in Twerton High Street the first by the bus stop inward bound by Clyde House, the second by Bakers close to Waterloo buildings.

These bins were previously removed by the council and we had to chase to have them replaced.

If yo have a bin that you have noticed is  now missing then please let us know.

Twerton High Street ( litter bin )

I have asked for the litter bin that was removed from the bus stop on the inward journey to town to be replaced.

Under the agreement for the replacement of the bus shelters or the installation of new ones the replacement of litter bins was supposed to happen, it seems on this occasion it was missed.

Redland Park ( more new litter bins )

One of the bins put in that will be replaced
After months of nagging Curo we have at last got agreement that new litter bins will be installed in the next few weeks in Redland Park.

It had been agreed that 5 new litter bins will be installed to replace the ones that were either badly installed or were vandalised.

We hope that the new bins will used well and help reduce the litter problem.

Redland Park (litter bins)

It is pleasing that all of the promised new litter bins are now in place in Redland Park and we hope that residents will be pleased with out joint working with Curo to make this happen.

The council now have the responsibility of keeping the bins empty and if anyone sees a litter bin overflowing that they should contact the council on 01225394041 or email council_connect@bathnes.gov.uk .

The bins should normally be emptied once a fortnight and we would hope that the new bins would help keep this area clean and tidy.

If you have any comments or questions on this or any other matter then we would be pleased to hear from you.

Redland Park ( Litter bins )

The first of 9 new litter bins have been installed in Redland Park by Curo, the rest of the bins will be installed by Friday this week.

We are thankful that Curo has kept the promise that they made to local Councillors and residents over 3 years ago although we are disappointed that it has taken this long to get them put in.

The new litter bins will help keep the area clean and tidy and these bins will be emptied by the council, so partnership is working in this area.

Thanks to Zack and his team at Curo for listening and responding to our requests.

Missing an broken litter bins

We have asked that the litter bin that has been removed by the footpath close to the White horse Public House is replaced as soon as possible.

We have also asked that the litter bin by 13 Freeview road that is in the verge of collapsing is replaced as soon as possible.

We hope that these will be replaced shortly.

Redland Park investigative walk around.

I spent a good day on Thursday walking around Redland Park with Curo officers and the councils cleansing team.

It was a good visit and we identified several issues that need to be dealt with.

I was rather shocked to hear that a cleansing operative had been in Redland Park on Monday of this week and removed 38 full bags of litter that had accumulated.

Curo have again been asked to provide litter bins in this area as much of the area is their responsibility.

The issues that we found were loose kerb edges that need to be reinstated or removed on some of the parking areas.

Curo have agreed to get their gardening and Landscaping team in to cut back the overgrowth that is coming from the edges of residents properties and remove tree saplings that have become rooted and are causing a problem.

It was noticed that many residents have started to tidy their gardens but there is a hardcore that still refuse to deal with their overgrown gardens or leave old furniture rotting outside.

We have agreed to have a crackdown on these properties in the next few months in order to get the estate back into good order.

Newton Road improvements

We have asked for the road sign at the rear of Newton Road on the Junction of Shaws Way to be repainted or replaced.

We have reached agreement with Curo Housing association to look into the poor kerbing along Newton road and to replace it as soon as possible.

We have also asked for one of the two litter bins that are located outside of the cost cutter shop to be relocated to the bus stop outside of St Michael's School as we believe that this will lesson the litter problem on this part of Newton Road.

We are also pleased to see that the broken sign pictured outside of First Steps Nursery has been replaced with a new sign.

We would hope that whoever vandalised the old sign would leave the new one alone.
