Walwyn Close abandoned Car

We have requested that Curo remove this vehicle as soon as possible.

 

The car is in a very poor condition, extremely rusty and it poses a significant danger to others in the area. It is imperative that this issue is addressed promptly to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone who uses the car park.

 

If you know who owns this vehicle please let them know before they get charged for its removal.

Walwyn Close - Bin store issues

I had a busy day out around Twerton today, however, I am really disappointed that the overflowing bins at Walwyn Close that I reported yesterday are even worse today!

I did ask that these were sorted yesterday, however, someone has decided they would dump a whole load of bedroom furniture by the bins and expect someone else to get rid of them.

Whilst household waste is meant to be collected, furniture is not and this is classed as flytipping.  I have asked both the Council and Curo to investigate this and find a solution that will prevent this from continuously occurring.  It is not fair on the majority of the residents in this area that they have to leave their properties to be presented with this view.

Working together we can make Twerton an amazing place, however, this type of behaviour has to be stopped.

Curo Walkabout - Twerton and Whiteway

On Friday 19th October, Tim Ball and Sarah Moore met with a representative from Curo to walk around Walwyn Close, Woodhouse Road and Redland Park area of Twerton to show him first hand how unloved the area is and discuss regularly reported issues.

He has agreed that a number of trees and bushes need to be cut back to ensure the lighting is more effective as well as regular clean up of the area.

Curo are making changes to the way they work at the moment and we will hopefully have a full update on this shortly.

On Monday 22nd October, Sarah and Tim were joined by local residents and Senior Management from Curo to take a walk around Blagdon Park, Rosewarn Close and parts of Haycombe Drive for them to see the state of the area.

We discussed parking issues and a number of vehicles have now been served a 28 day notice for the owners to either remove them or Curo will take them away.  They are also looking at other ways to ease parking problems around the area.

Residents are fed up with not being listened to and having to regularly contact Curo to get anything done.

We have said that the biggest issues residents have is the lack of communication and action.  Whilst we know money is tight for everyone, Curo understands it has a duty to provide a service to it's customers and has agreed to go back and see how they can improve this process. 

We will keep you informed of any updates we have from Curo as we receive them.

How can people in flats recycle when this is the norm

Is it any wonder that residents living in some of our flats in Twerton don’t recycle their waste if the receptacles that they need to put the recycled materials are left in a state like this by the council.

The bins pictured are at Walwyn Close in Twerton and are shared by 3 blocks of flats residents tell me it is over 3 weeks since these were last emptied.

We have been onto the council regarding these bins and have asked that they are kept clear on a regular basis.

It is no good the council threatening to fine people for not recycling properly if they don’t provide the facilities that are usable  by residents.

Woodhouse Road, Walwyn Close

we are pleased to see the work being carried out to the blocks of flats in Walwyn Close and Woodhouse Road to replace the front doors and make the fire doors in the communal areas more secure.

A matter has arose that the adjustments on the communal doors has caused them to slam shut vibrating throughout the flats.

We have asked Curo to resolve the matter of the slamming doors as soon as possible before it drives the residents mad.

Community Litter Pick Saturday 7th March

Gerry Curran always active in our community

Councillor Gerry Curran is continuing with his regular litter picks in Twerton and this time he is organising a community litter pick in Redland Park Woodhouse Road & Walwyn Close.

The litter pick will start in Redland Park at 10.30 am where we will meet at 10.30 am moving through Redland Park and onto Woodhouse Road and Walwyn Close in the afternoon where we will finish at about 3.30pm.

If you are able to join us we will be pleased to see you. Litter pickers can be provided but if you have your own please bring it along.

Walwyn Close

We have managed to get agreement with Curo for them to clean the pathway between 6 & 8 that leads to the doctors surgery. We have had many complaints about this path over the past few months about it not being cleaned.

We have also asked the council to replace the hand rail to the rear of these properties that has been removed and also to repair the crumbling steps that are on the path towards the doctors surgery.

We would hope that this work would soon be carried out.

Walwyn Close Twerton

We have asked the council to clear up this mess close to the Doctors Surgey at Walwyn Close as soon as possible.

It looks like this has been dumped deliberately and if you saw who did this then please let us know?

Litter again a problem

I have asked the council to clear up some a parts of Twerton that have become over run with litter.

The areas of Dominion Road, Newton Road, Walwyn Close are far below standards and I have asked that these areas are brought up to standard as soon as possible.

Recycling and waste containment

We have met with Curo and council waste officers at both Linley Close where the bins were recently burnt out and at Walwyn Close that always seems to be in a mess.

At the Linley Close area we have agreed that the Green waste bins should be replaced as soon as possible whilst we investigate another storage area for recycled waste.

At Walwyn Close we have asked for improved signage about what can be left in this area and have asked for some secure fencing around the green plastic waste bins in order to stop,any recycled waste blowing across the area.

Walyn Close Flats fly tipping

I have asked that the mess is cleared away from the recycling area outside of Walwyn Close flats, this rather annoying as it is there on a regular basis.

It is also not very good to look at for the residents if you know who is causing the mess please let us know.

I have also asked the council to work closely with Curo to find a permanent solution to this issue that can not be allowed to continue.
